India on Saturday deployed 80 NDRF personnel and four search dogs to Sri Lanka to assist with relief and rescue operations following severe floods caused by Cyclone Ditwah, an official said. The team, divided into two units, left from Hindon airbase near Delhi around 4 a.m. on an IL-76 IAF aircraft bound for Colombo. They are carrying inflatable boats, hydraulic cutting and breaching tools, communication equipment, first-aid kits, and other rescue supplies. The mission is part of Operation Sagar Bandhu, launched by India to support Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the cyclone.
